What are the risks and facts about the teeth whitening?
The first thing you need to know is that the proposed teeth whitening is a kind of their discoloration. The change of color is the result of extraction of the pigments in them. If have been already to a dentist for a teeth crown or a similar procedure, you already knowthat tooth color is different in degree of whiteness for different people and these pigments are individual as well as the skin. Whether such whitening is appropriate or not and how it will affect the enamel of your teeth, this question is best to ask your dentist and depending on his answer you could decide even how well-intentioned it is.
If he immediately offered to do the procedure for teeth whitening without explaining to you the risks, then you should think twice before trusting him. A good specialist is not inclined to recommend laser lights and gels, teeth whitening and would immediately warn you that there is a risk of destruction of enamel. Gels for whitening contain primarily hydrogen peroxide, which penetrates the enamel of your teeth and oxidize the color. Some whitening complexes are acid – chlorine dioxide, which can directly destroy the enamel and make your teeth very sensitive to hot and cold, and subsequently very easily susceptible to staining. So this way teeth whitening becomes like drug addiction. After the first teeth whitening you can’t stop because changes in enamel are irreversible, and in some cases the consequences can be very unpleasant.
The teeth whitening happens due to chemical color change. There is also a danger for the gums from acid burning, especially if peroxide has a high concentration. This is a risk that should not be ignored and you need to know about it.
Another troublesome point is that if you have crowns or fillings, their color will not change during the whitening process and then you smile can become somehow colorful and uncomfortable.
If we are reasonable and stick to a healthy recipes without the participation of chemistry, especially in your mouth, we will have slower results, but lasting and real. Even with them, however, you should not forgot that the lining of the oral cavity should be completely healthy to avoid any infections. Moreover prepared mixtures should not be swallowed in any case! Using whitening toothpaste is also a better solution.
